2018 NYS Women's Senior & Super Senior Amateur Championships

Memorandum to Players

 

 FORMAT

36 holes of individual stroke play.

 

TEES

Senior Division (Ages 50-64): GOLD TEES - 5,732 yards - Par 73 - 73.3/126

Super Senior Division (Ages 65+): SILVER TEES - 5,116 yards - Par 73 - 69.5/120

 

Note: The course will be setup for practice rounds as it will play for the tournament rounds. Some tees may be moved slightly to avoid tee wear, especially on par-3s.

Pairings for Round 1 are now available (see the above menu option).

 

REGISTRATION

Players are asked to register before their practice round at Thendara on Monday, August 20. The registration will be located outside by the pro shop. At this time players will receive the championship program and tee gift, and can purchase guest tickets for the player dinner.

 

If you are unable to register in person, you must call the NYSGA office at 315-471-6979 to register by phone.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS

A complimentary practice round is available on Monday, August 20, 2018. Registration for practice rounds will be open on Tuesday, July 31st at 9am. DO NOT CALL THENDARA TO SCHEDULE A PRACTICE ROUND.

 

To register for a practice round (after it opens!), click on "Schedule Your Practice Round" under the "Pairings" menu option. Select your name from the search bar and click on the open time you wish to register for. Players will also be able to add other players to their group.

CONTESTANT DINNER

There will be a dinner for players (included in the entry fee) for players on Monday, August 20. The cocktail reception (cash bar) will begin at 6:00pm with dinner to be served promptly at 7:00pm.

 

The menu includes: salad, rolls, baked chicken, meatballs and sausage, beef tips au jus, rosemary roasted potatoes, green beans almondine, baked ziti and broccoli alfredo over fettucini w/ strawberry shortcake dessert.

 

Guests tickets may be purchased at the player registration table for $30.

 

RANGE

The range is included before each round as part of the entry fee. The driving range at Thendara is small, so plan on arriving early to ensure you have time to warm up.

 

Note: We are working with Thendara on additional range space on the course and will provide an update when one is available.

 

GOLF CARTS

The use of golf carts is mandatory. Payment for the use of golf carts for all rounds (including the practice round!) is included as part of the entry fee.

 

"ONE-SEAT" CART POLICY

The NYSGA's "One-Seat" Cart  Policy permits player’s caddie the opportunity to assist the player during play. For example, the player’s caddie may drive the golf cart if the player chooses to walk, move the cart for the player from green to tee, etc., so long as the player and the player’s caddie are not riding in a golf cart at the same time. GOLF CART REQUEST FORM FOR DISABLED SPECTATORS AND CADDIES

If a disabled spectator would like to use a golf cart, they must complete and return the NYSGA Golf Cart Request Form (Click Here).

 

CADDIES

The use of a caddie is permitted in both championships.

 

ON-COURSE WATER & SNACKS

Water bottles and fruit/snacks will be provided on the golf course for players/caddies only.

 

AWARDS

Trophies are awarded to the winner and runner up in the following divisons (gross only):

  • 66th NYS Women's Senior Amateur Championship (Ages 50-64)
  • 12th NYS Women's Super Senior Amateur Championship (Ages 65+)

Trophies are also awarded to the low gross and net player in the following age divisions: 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+.

 

CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION AND LOCAL RULES

Listed below are several important Conditions of Competition and Local Rules for this competition.

  • Notice to Competitors: Please check your starting tee for the Notice to Players and NYSGA Hard Card.
  • Conforming Clubs and Balls: Visit the USGA website (www.usga.com) for a list of approved golf balls and drivers for the competition.
  • Distance Measuring Devices: Are permitted.
  • One Ball Rule: The “One Ball Rule” will not be in effect.

HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS

The NYSGA does not currently have a group rate at a hotel in Old Forge. There are many hotels and B&Bs in Old Forge, a sampling is included below:
